I Heart Faces – Props

The other day at church, Jordyn whispered to one of the VBS teachers, “Sometimes I do photo shoots.” My little diva thinks she’s the Next Top Model.    Jordyn’s “photo shoots” occur when I haven’t figured out a picture for the  I Heart Faces theme.

This week was an example. I waited until it was overcast so that I could have great lighting. I then took my backdrop stand outside, hung up a quilt and incorporated some props. I went back in to get my camera. When I came out, my prop stand had fallen, and I had to set it up all over again. By that time, the sun started to peek out, the novelty of having a photo shoot had worn off on Jordyn, and I was pretty much left with a girl who had thrown off her pretty headband and wanted to play with the stand rather than be my model.

Guess that’s why I’m more of a candid shots photographer rather than a user of  props and backdrops.  I simply stink at the set-up and execution.  :)

  • Dana Suggs - Oh boy do I understand the photo shoots with your daughter! LOL I seem to use Brooklyn a lot. HAAAA!

I LOVE this! The quilt is beautiful and the lighting is PERFECT! Amazing job!ReplyCancel

  • Jessica Helton - To me though, I love that she is showing off the beautiful shape of her sweet lips… something you wouldn’t have seen so well in a smile. I’m not a firm believer in a smile is necessary to have a great photograph. I love this! The quilt makes me want to hit up some antique shops! It’s precious! Great job!ReplyCancel

    • Andrea Riley - You’re right. It’s great to get different expressions, even when it’s a bit of a pout. I got the quilt at a garage sale for $7. It was a great find! I think it was for a teenager’s room and had yellow sewn X’s on it that were starting to pull out. I removed all of the yellow stitches. There was also a hole in it that I covered with a cute embroidered butterfly patch. I like how it has a quilt-like appearance but modern looking fabric. Definite deal of the day. :)ReplyCancel

  • Kelsie Taylor - So sweet! I love the use of the quiltReplyCancel

  • Life with Kaishon - DrewI I laughed at your telling of this story and this picture! I have to add your new link to my feeder.
See what I mean? I never visit anyone unless I see their name pop up on the side bar. I am hopeless!ReplyCancel
